Asked & answered.

Everything surgeons usually ask before trusting us with their logbook.

The basics

What is Surgibud?

A surgical logbook, audit, and reflection tool. You log cases on your phone after theatre; Surgibud sends outcome surveys (PROMs) to your patients, tracks your audit queue, builds your statistics, and assembles your CPD evidence.

Who is it for?

It was built by and for gynaecologists, and works beautifully for other surgical specialties too. The procedure dictionary is yours to define, so it speaks whatever your specialty speaks.

Is there an app to install?

Surgibud is a fast web app — open app.surgibud.com on any phone, tablet, or computer and add it to your home screen. No app store, no updates to install, always in sync.

Does it work offline?

You need a connection to save cases — hospital wifi or mobile data is enough. Entries are small and save in well under a second.

Clinical workflow

How long does it take to log a case?

Under a minute for a routine case once your defaults are set — and a few seconds per case in bulk entry mode. Pasting an op note into the AI importer is faster still.

What are PROMs and why should I care?

Patient-Reported Outcome Measures — short surveys your patients answer at set intervals after surgery. They close the loop on how patients actually fared, which is increasingly expected for audit and recertification. Surgibud automates the entire sending, chasing, and collation process.

Can I import my existing logbook?

Yes — email us a spreadsheet export from your current system and we will help you map it in. The AI importer also handles pasted lists remarkably well.

Can I export my data?

Always. Statistics and CPD documents export as PDF, and your full case data is exportable at any time. Your logbook is yours — leaving must always be easy, or staying means nothing.

Privacy & safety

Is patient data safe in Surgibud?

Surgibud has no fields for patient names, official patient numbers, or birth dates, and the terms of use prohibit entering them — cases are keyed by your own non-identifying codes. PROM contact details are AES-256-GCM encrypted and automatically deleted after use. Data is stored securely in Sydney, Australia, under NZ and Australian privacy law. See the Security page for the full picture.

Do I need patient consent to send PROMs?

You should tell patients to expect a follow-up survey, as part of your usual consent discussion. Every survey includes a one-tap opt-out that immediately and permanently deletes the patient’s contact details.

Is the AI feature safe to use with op notes?

Notes you submit are processed by Anthropic’s API and are not used to train models. We advise removing patient identifiers before pasting — and Surgibud has nowhere to store identifiers even if they slip through.

What happens if I delete my account?

Deletion is self-service and immediate. Clinical records are retained in cold storage only as long as health record retention law requires (10 years), then purged automatically with a compliance entry written to an append-only log.

Account & billing

How much does it cost?

Everyone gets 3 months free with no credit card. After that it is NZ$49/month or NZ$499/year (local taxes additional) — or free with evidence of eligibility for trainees, fellows, and clinicians in low-income countries. Details on the pricing page.

Who is behind Surgibud?

Operating Systems, a small New Zealand software company run by clinicians who got tired of logbooks designed by committees. See the About page.

How do I get help?

Email support@surgibud.com — a human reads every message, usually the same day NZ time. There is also an in-app feedback button that goes straight to the people who build the product.
